i'm not a carpenter, either. with a few cross supports, i'd think it will hold a tank. also, a coatof paint will cover up the few minor flaws.

The bottom 2x4's that will be your base should be flat on the ground, you need to get the vertical 2x4's straight, from the looks of the picture, there are several vertical 2x4's that looks like it is leaning to a side, you need to make the weight distribution as even as possible. And just to let you know, you really don't need so many vertical 2x4's to support the weight.

@Tinfoilhat Yes that piece came up a little short =/ No the helpful fellows at home depot cut them, then I used a chainsaw to size them appropriately

It's pretty tough to get a square cut with a chainsaw. The more square your pieces are when you cut them, the more square it'll be when you assemble it. You also might want to look into getting a pocket hole jig. Kreg is a pretty popular brand. I found pocket holes to be a great method of attaching the ends of your vertical 2x4's to the top and bottom frame.

get yourself a mitre saw and sort all those crocked cuts out. All you need to do is cut all those uprights straight. You might lose an inch or two in height but your stand won't crack under the pressure of all that water.
