Really? I've heard that in the nearby island of Reunion they are bred as food. But I've never tasted them myself... also heard they get huge... 3 feet... dunno whether that's true...

They constantly quarrel among each other... yet no damages except that the black one banged against the filter intake and scrapped its side. I have now removed the PVC intake tube and replaced it by a rubber one.

2 tankmates for now: a clown knife and a red-bellied pacu. The cats leave them alone.

The albino is about 11 inches... the black one about 13...

Thing is, I'm not sure they will get that big... most probably a little under 2 feet...

Nice Cats! I miss mine...Jag. When I went to Thailand to visit my relatives, the street vendors would have them grilled on a stick. Very tender and tasty. Giant Gouramis are fantastic also.
