uh... well.. I went to walmart for painters tape, stopped by the pet section for some air stones, walked past the tanks that appear have a very healthy stock of dead fish..I decided to peak in the quarter sized hole of algae and a very tiny, very sick, VERY UGLY tiger oscar is floating around next to his dead buddy. I don't really care for cichlids let alone tiger oscars, but I do have a respect for fish.I can pick it up in the morning (I was going to buy it now but I had to resist and ask the pros here 1st) hes a fighter but hes hurting. I have an established 20 gal guppy tank (not to be-little you guppy fans) but eating few might help. Is he too far gone? I don't even know what I would do with him, but I don't want to watch him dying every time I go to walmart. I started adding salt to the guppy tank and raising temp. Thanks in adv. for any opinions.

is he hurt? if he is yeah because itll be easy to cure with some temp, salt and melafix but if theres no signs of injuries dont because it may be some sort pf parasite

If you don't mind losing all your guppies then do it. I can almost guarantee you that that little oscar has some kind of disease. Grab a box of Jungle parasiite tabs from the next isle, and drop 2 in the be safe. Get the temp up to about 85, and that combined with salt should help get rid of ich if it has any. Make sure you keep the water quality perfect too, and it might make it.

yo, didn't even think about that. See why I waited? Hes skinny, and has sores on him as well. Mayby from the Plecos they have in there as well, they were eating the dead oscar, so chances are they have been sucking off "chip" (new name) his eyes are a little white... this fish is NO BUENO

haha yeah, parasite can be easy to cure too but it could really go both ways

no matter what you decide to do in the end Good Luck!

I'd say don't do it, if you buy that Oscar they will just get another to take his place and the suffering continues.

that sucks, sorry to hear it.... DAMN! Wal Mart fish! Oscars, are so easy to care for how can they make em sick?
