can i use a heat rock
No , much less safer specialy in a humid terrarium. Belive me a heating pad or a ceramic lamp are the way to go:D

i dont know if i would use a heat pad, these guys are use to being in the trees. i would go with an infra red spot bulb for at night...also, if you are saying your heat bulb is a uv bulb you better make sure. most pet store employees dont know much. your regular zoo med spot gives off a uva but no uvb but the employee will tell you it does. so double check your bulb. if you paid less then 15 bucks for it then it isnt a good uva/uvb source. the active uv/heat bulbs got for like 60 plus bucks. if it isnt a uv bulb go and get a nice flouscent fixture and bulb.

Red spot bulbs are not good for nigth time heating they are very powerfull, reps need to cool a bitt during nigth and if you put them on a termostat they will continualy open and shut. That and the intense ligth they give will keep your dragons awake:grinno: Ive tryed thouse but my igs had real trouble sleeping. Try sleeping at nigth with one of thouse shining over your head. Your gonna be krazy:DAnd yes you are rigth saying that a heating pad is a kind of inadecuat way to heat a bascking lizard. But remenbar that at nigth in a Asian rainforest ambient temps its what counts and there is no sun ligth to heat them. I can assure you that a properly placed heat pad gives more than its coute of heat to keep things warm specialy on a humid terrarium. They are great with thouse when they are small in a hachling habitat:) But when they grow up you are gonna need a ceramic lamp controled by termostat. ;) Also make shure you got a UV ligth and that there is nothing bethween your dragons and that ligth(say plastic, glass, etc) To protect them from being burned use a metalic mesh:D
