are you able to fit the pieces of driftwood into a pot or wok? i boil my drift wood for 3 hours then change the water because it looks like black tea then boil for another 3 hours. after the second time you boiled them, you can see if your wood is going to leech more tannins in the water if the water is yet again black tea color. if the water isn't as dark was when you first changed the water then your getting closer to reducing the leeching of the tannins. what also helps is if you run carbon and/or seachem purigen in your filters. i have tried the carbon in the filters and it worked to a certain point, but the use of purigen is from other threads that i have read about the product.
