water color is the water?

When you change your water do you treat it for chlorine and wait a few minutes before adding it? I was not waiting and after a water changed my freshly cycled tank became murky again....

I figured I was killing off my bio part of my filtration by getting chlorine into the mix with my city water.

Add some real plants if you can, this should also help with the murk, as the plants will compete with the algae for nutrients in the water.

i would ease up on light, i have mine on from 9am till 9pm. i try to keep my nitrates under 20. I also had the same problem for about 8 months it was cloudy (clear looking straight at it cloudy looking through the sides. i bought a big sheet of fine filter pad and cut them to the length of my ac110 and place 2 sheets on the bottom of the sponges, i also bought Purigen and trust me the stuff is great!. was crystal clear and i went and put a big piece of bogwood and clouded it back up lol

When you say your water isnt clear, what exactly do you mean? Is it a milky white, or tea brown or green etc??? An answer here may lead straight to the problem.

Diatom filter. Done!
