Thanks,not sure about the power difference but it accelerates really well.I love looking in the rearview mirror as the cars that were beside me get smaller and smaller.I've always wanted this one but it is a gas hog though.unannon;4937069; said:

Actually, the Rotary motor or Wankel found in the RX8 has nothing to do with Ford. The only associations between these car manufacturers is very minimal. The Wankel is completely engineered and designed by Mazda, the only design aspect the RX8 shares is the rear suicide doors, from the Ford F150.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a 800 V-twin ROTAX in my Bombardier Outlander XT, and another in my CanAm. The same motor? I wouldn't be supprised, after all Bombardier/CanAm is French Canadian.
My favorite rides of the last couple years. I cahnge cars like you change underwear. First is an 80s Chevy 3/4 ton on 38" tires. Next is a 1990 chevy 1 ton on 46" military tires. Next is a 69 chevy with a small block and a 6-71 blower. Next is a 77 blazer on 36" tires. Then comes the new diesel, pushing about 500hp and well over 800ft lbs. The drop top firebird is supercharged (and the wifes). Last is the 87 vette. All have been sold/traded in the last 24 months leaving only the diesel and the drop top left (plus an unpictured stock hard top firebird and a tube chassis mud racing truck sitting at the house right now).
