my whole collection pic heavy

Thanks. I am thinking of getting more. I am so glad to see how this guy is looking. The other one hasnt started to change much. It also wont eat anything other then bloodworms yet. This bigger one is the one that took pelets outta the bag. It eats everything I have tossed in with gusto.

The xingu took some fillets on the fall from the tossing. Not going crazy yet but at least starting.

Tig has started eating fillets so I cant wait to add that to the group as well.

Put a cap and drilled holes to make a screen for the overflow.

One bad note I have been dealing with. My 180gal brace broke a while ago. Been trying to work out a "quick fix". Got nothing. So I ordered a .5" same sized brace today. Once that comes in I get to try and fix it. All the while there is a few large fish in the tank.

Highs and lows almost daily in this game. Getting it all worked out though. Might pick up a 125 or another 180 to move the bass to next. Got a large gar and achara in the 180 I have. Kinda want to move them sooner then they would be able to with those 2 in my current setup.

The plastic bracing that supports the actual tank broke or bracing on the stand? A little confused to what I'm looking at in the photos.

The center brace on the tank? is it bowing? I had my center brace pop on my 125 gallon I drained it and made a 2x4 brace temporarily to keep it from bowing because I had fish in it at the time and no where to put them.

That is the glass center brace on my 180 gal oceanic. The plastic part in the middle is for the tops to sit on. It wasnt bowing but I made a wood brace temp just in case. It was cracked like that for almost a month before I saw it. I knew it broke my glass tops but did t notice the brace until I moved my top and the chunk fell out. Ill get an expanded pic so you can see it better when I start cleaning and working on it today. Still making breakfast...lol

I think that little plastic strip was all that saved my tank. I am trying to cut the brace out to get ready for the new one to come in. Still a 23" shortness far in it and a 20" achara cat. To add to the fun the cat vomited last night. I fed like normal last night. Then I went to start working on the brace without thinking about the feed. Dropped the tank to half or a little less. Then left a sponge filter in as I work on the brace. The sponge I am using has handeled the load before when my diy overflow broke down for a few weeks earlier this year.

No were to put these 2 fish so I have to figure it out with them in it. The onky other tank that could temp house them is my 75gal. That has the bulk of my bass collection now.

Found out glass had about doubbled in price locally. Used to get .5" glass at $9 a square now that 23"x18" piece for the brace is damn near $60. The thought crossed my mind to get a 125gal for now as theybare only $200. More so when my 5 glass tops I wanted to get were $200. Used to be less them half that for the same in .25" glass.

This is why I never glue my pvc overflow standpipes. Now I have a shorter one in so I can run the filter. I have always wanted the ability to change water nights in the tanks. Or remove and cap to add a screen like I had to on the 75gal. A lesson I learned when I had gars for the first time in my 180gal and a glued standpipe. They hit the center brace when the breathed. Then I had to build a new overflow to allow them to breath with a lowered water level.

Came in handy now.

I kinda wished I would have had them cut the brace into 2 braces now. Hindsight is 20/20.

Broke one is out glass is cleaned up just need the new one to come in. I think it will be a week before I get this all fixed and running full level again.20170228_132709_HDR.jpg

Did some thinking. Ill do 2 species a week that way it will be a month between each sp update. So hopfully by my last sp update of the start ill have a new sp to add in to make it even.

So. With that today will start the sp photo shoots. First up xingus. The one has eaten most often and is in great shape both colors and body. The other is thin and duller as it has only just started to pick at some foods.
