My Wild Peru Altum Scarlet Angelfish

to each his own, but IMO, no angel, wild or domestic can come close to the beauty of the true Altum.

I like all three Angelfish species and each one has it's own appeal. I Agree it is diffacult to match the graceful beauty of the P. Altum, I have some Rio Inirida Altum I'm growing out that are developing very nicly and starting to put on some size but are still small 2.5" total height.

Do you believe these are true P. Scarlet wild caught? I just got 2 more and they look like true wild caught. But they came from different local. One has red eyes and looks like the one that starts with m and the other one is beatuful with yellow coloration.

While I can't see genetics they appear to be Peruvian scalare. They are good looking fish. If I were you I would be satisfied that I got what I paid for.

just a tip. don't point the camera straight at the tank. your pics are washed out because of the flash reflecting back into the lens. aiming from an angle will give you much better results.

I am very happy that I got Wild Peruvian Scalare. First time owning wild angelfish and I think they are better than tank raised. Eating alot of flakes, pellets, and bloodworms. More color than tank raised. But I do have one question, they seem to have more aggression than tank raised in my experience. Theres the biggest one bitting and nipping at the 3 smaller ones, is this normal? What can I do to solve this?

That agression just sounds like pecking order stuff to me. I have a group of 5 wild caught Peruvians and I have found them more territorial than domestic angels. Of my 5 fish, only 2 of them have red eyes. I got them all from the same reputable importer, so I'm confident they are legit.

they are beauties..good luck with them... awesome angels .

That's what I figured. It's calm down a bit though. The red eyes are either a male- female thing or a different local thing Jeff Rapps told me. Of my 4 2 have red eye and 2 have yellow coloration. So I got 2 male and 2 female wild. They are sweet. :)
