Real life going on there big time!
Thanks for the little look at the filters and the lights.
I learned a lot.

QUESTION; where did you get the blue barrels?

Thanks for all the compliments, i get these from two places...at work we have floor cleaner, which is where i got two of them...the rest i got from a car wash...they have about 30 of them out back and stated to take as many as i needed :headbang2 some have oil in it but most dont unfortunatly i grabbed a couple that has oil in it...so ill have to bring those back.

:ROFL::ROFL:Sorry, I knew it was galvanized (& could see the algae build-up) I just wanted to you to say it to see how long it would take to get the leaching comment, NEW MFK record ...Les than ONE minute :ROFL::ROFL:.

I've used them for what seems like eons, after I scrub the oil out of them, then season them for a year. The algae's secretions help coat the interior surface and seal it, lab tests showed no leached metals.

Nice winter set-ups too.

.

:WHOA::grinno::screwy: i have heard bad things about galvanized also, but i was not ready for winter this 2007.....next winter there will be a green house cover over main pond and they will stay out all winter...but i must say i enjoyed watching them this winter

so galvanized tanks can be used?? i can get a good sized one for dirt cheap but was always afraid of it leaching and hurting fish..

sure its possible! in the right conditions ;) this was my first winter, i did not have a heater or an ice opener......ALSO heard its safer to bring one year olds or less in there first year to obtain maximum growth...the meat they put on in winter then in spring, summer, and finally fall is what keeps them going all winter without food.
