hey jelly, does the intermedius have a lacerdae or mala jaw? my mala looks just like that and has a gold sheen.

nice wolves. curupira looks cool

Thanks. The curupira is an impresive looking fish. It's the bulk, Hopefully I can add a few more inches on there before he stops growing.

Yes the intermedius does have a lacerdae like lower jaw. The first time I saw a pic of the fish I blindly said Mala, on closer inspection I could see it was something different.

Nice photos Jelly, there is always room for more wolves.... you know you want too....

Good to see you on here. If you can think of a way I can squeeze it in, you normally can, and yes I want to.

but according to ur posts they grow quite slow yes?
in general, what size would they max out at? :)

Along with a number of other big charicins i.e. ATF's there growth seems to be very slow in captivity.

My Brazilian Curupira is 11" and hasn't grown in length at all since I got him 2 years ago.

My Venezualan Curupira has put on 3" over 8 months, so less than .5" a month. I feed this wolf very well and he is in a large tank 300g+. They seem to reach about 16"+ in captivity but can reach 30" in the wild. There are a number of fishing photos of aimara that are Curupira. The ranges of the fish are very simalar. I have heard rumours of a 28" example in Germany. I have no idea of it's imported size though. There are a lot more of these being kept now and I am sure we will see a more accurate max captive length.

I have had the aimara for two months now and although it have bulked a bit it has not put any measurable length on. The are some that have had good growth others not so. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I would guess if kept in pristine water conditions and fed correctly they will achieve good growth.

i want a wolf!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 almost got one not too long ago,
