My wood will not stay down!!!

I think you should've seen a doctor.

But seriously, I wonder if freezing it would help?

No freezing it did not help at all, they froze for about 2 week over the winter last year.. they was outside in the garage and froze so I turned on the heat because I didn't want to mess up the wood or the tote it was in..

I actually just brought them in the house today to get some pictures of them and put them in a extra 180 gal. tank I'm not using right now so they can soak all winter if need be. I think they are some really nice looking pieces and I really want to use them!!

Bobbing wood that won't stay down can be handled in a number of ways. If boiling it is out because your wood is too big...then I seriously doubt it will fit in the average freezer either, and besides, you risk snapping it into itty-bitty pieces if it gets wacked while frozen. I recommend that you drill a hole in it and tie it to a heavy rock - then see if your wood still bobs up again. :nutkick:
(You boys are so tacky! :nono: )

Huh... I have never heard of a Bobbing tree around here... Was that a sick joke " its bobbing on my wood"??? LOL..
Well I know a heavy rock will hold them down that is how I soak them is with a 40lb piece of Texas holey rock sitting on them holding them down...
I had a idea last night, I think I am going to find a metal 55 gallon drum sit it up on building blocks and make a big fire under it to boil them... I know I could put heavy rocks on them to hold them down but I think that looks tacky, I want them to stay down on their own or maybe a flat piece of slat I can hide under the sand and tie them to it!!!

But thank you very much for the help as well as everyone else who has commented and helped me with this.. If anyone else has any thoughts of what to do please let me know... Thanks again everyone!!!!

I hope you can get them to sink, sorry I can't offer any help. I wanted to let you know that others have the same problem though. I've had the same piece for a year now that I soaked in a bucket with daily hot water changes and had it held down by a chair for 2-3 months and then added to my tank. It did not sink so it has been tied to slate this whole time and every few months it needs to be re-tied as I suppose the force of it trying to float up loosens the string. Still no sign of sinking :P

As beautiful as some of them can be I pretty much gave up dealing with driftwood. There is the hassle of getting the pieces to sink and then there is that ugly,wood-fungus looking stuff that creeps up and I couldn't get rid of.

Longest I've seen was over two years.. keep the rocks on it and it will be full eventually.
