Thank goodness for that Richard...i'm too tired tonight for a fight..lol !!I won't turn this into a fight again
But I don't think the twin tails will get to 16 inch all other tins yes but not the twin tails
I had 3 x gold and 3 x twin tails and in 5 years the golds got to 14 inch and the twin tails just over 10 inch
The twin tails tails do eat ray poo but the gold tins didn't
I know there is 3 - 4 different Latin names for tinfoils so maybe the size reflects the name as I have seen some shops sell what they say are twin tails but they are.not the same the tail is still very red but the black bars are faded and you can't hardly see them on some larger ones but the type I have has deep black stripes and a black flick on the dorsal fin
You can get them very cheap at a small size and they grow very very fast and out grow many small tanks so are returned to shops all the time but it's normally the normall types you see
You get a lot of fish for your money I sold my 14inchers for £10 each and even at than money they didn't move fast and they would eat £10 per month in food

I saw a shoal of these about 25 years ago in a aquatic shop window, this was the first time I ever saw the twin bars. These were easily 16" long, they were massive, the largest Tinfoils I have ever seen to date, I would also like to add that this size is rare in domestic aquaria, having said that in a tank like yours that holds 1000 gallons there shouldn't be any restrictions so it will be interesting to see how large they will grow.
12-14" is probably more accurate as a guide.
I know exactly what you mean with the faded bars, I believe this is a hybrid between the common Tinfoil and the Twin bar. I always order the twin bars under the correct latin name from Singapore, the fish at this size have clear fins but the dorsal spot and caudal fin bars are very prominent "even" at 3".
