Myleus Schomburgkii / ERH / black bar red hooks with burn/bite marks?

Did you find out anymore on the cause of these scratch type markings on the males?

only thing I've noticed is that the males did it to each other.

Noticed it even more when the dominant male started having his threads/streamers on the dorsal fin.

They have been moved to a much larger tank and hopefully this problem stops, I think it had a lot to due with 20 large ERH in a 6x2 with 7males.

I have 8 of these, 5 are male and all of the males have these marks. So as an experiment I've moved all but one male to a different tank. Lets see if the one male left with the females heals up..

I have only 6 in a 520 gallon tank(4 males and 2 females). Lots of room to swim and all my males have these marks.

maybe less males then?

There's little to no info on the behavior of these other than the schooling behavior, wonder if there's a golden ratio when it comes to male and females.

Yep mine were like that too. I had 4 femalesvand 2 males and both males had those marks too (one more than the other) obviously the smaller guy had more marks on him. I've seen both of them go at it a lot and it wasn't pretty! Scales fluttering in the water like confetti. Though these guys are soo pretty wen they school.
