Mysterious Alien Fish in Overflow--WTF???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you have filament barbs then that is likely what those are. I don't know what their juvinile coloration is like but with many fish it is drastically different then the adult fish's color. I don't beleive the eggs came in on dry driftwood, they would not have survived being dry. Are the filament barbs in the same tank that the fry were found in?

a juvy filament barb a little further into growing then yours.

not quite the surprise you thought, but still pretty sweet.

oh ya forgot to mention, your filament barbs are prolific breeders and will pretty much breed in any moderately sized tank. some thin grass-like aquatic plant will encourage it though.

ok, now we just need to figure out HOW those guys ended up in there--weird.

So you think they may have been eggs in the overflow. If you have only had the tank up a short time. Where did the tank come from? I would find out if there were some similar fish in it.

The tank is a brand new custom built tank.

THAT'S a filament barb? If you're right and these are baby barbus filamentosis, I'll be sooooo happy. I've never bred anything other than cichlids. Thank you very much for the info.

That is so cool! I wish stuff like that happened in my tank. Well, it kinda does, but in reverse. "Didn't I have an armored cat in here yesterday? Why does my ornate bichir look so fat?"

:lol3: :hitting:

that is creepy. sort of gets you in the mood for halloween
