yeah, i guess I blindly blame Stress Coat, but it seems like I've had better fish health since using Prime. I'm sure it's just as good, I just like Prime better.

Oh yeah, I definately trust certain dechlorinators more than others, I think we all have certain preferences.
Really I think most dechlorinators work as intended but I know a ton of people that use primarily Prime and Stress Coat, so I trust those the most. For some fish the aloe might have some negative effect (perhaps if too much is used on the tank), but I haven't seen any evidence of that. I have clown loaches and other relatively sensitive fish, so I think if the aloe was a problem at all you'd have to be using a whole lot over recommended dosage.

My puffer for sure prefers Prime, because as soon as I started using it instead, his belly went from grayish at times, to bright white full time. but they both work.

so what are your tank parameters?

original poster...

I thought so, I was just confused since you put it right after the paragraph addressing me :D.

Well I left a space! maybe I should start being more specific. :)

just an idea... has it rained lately in your area? many city water co's add extra chlorine/chloramine to the water just before or after a heavy rain. i lost a whole tank full of tropicals when i changed water after a rain and just used a normal dose of Prime.
