Mystery catfish ID

My friend and I found this guy at a lfs. The lfs could only I'd it as a catfish and nothing more:confused:. Were both interested if we can id it and find out more about it. At the time of the photo it was probably around 5 or 6 inches and was housed with a tank full of discus.
It would be my luck if I purchased it on impulse it would grow like a red tail cat.

Looks like some kind of synodontis, but it's nearly impossible to tell which species it is based on that pic. Can you go back and get a few pics showing the entire body?
 
Yea I'll have to try again, the cellphone pic doesn't do it justice. It was very skittish and hard to photograph. Synodontis is a good lead tho thank you.
 
get a better pic please. I thought feather fin thats a kind of syntodonis I believe but it doesnt look feathery enough lol. they are fairly common please get a better pic I really want to know what it is now

It isn't a featherfin (S. euptera), wrong head shape and coloration. Right now, I'm guessing either S. obesus or S. nigromaculata.
