2 types unidentified lacustris group Pikes acquired last December. These photos were just sent to an expert for ID, he has some juvie pics ~ wants to see them with some growth. I'll post info when I get it....

1st pic is my friend's sole survivor from his 4 that arrived, different than the next few shots. Think it's a male. Input??

2nd is our male, 3rd is our female, 4th is the pair. Any ideas???

Pics #5 & 6 are our male punctata. Please excuse the dirty glass ~ I'll take some more photos.

I can't member the name of the three middle ones, it starts with a d...kinda like dorscetta or something....perhaps they are cf. dors? Top pike, oy, almost looks like a Saxatalis...interesting.

The punctata is lookin NICE !! Has it started gettin any more spots? All the pictures I've seen of them they are darker with TONS of spots...perhaps its not mature yet? Looks like a THICK pike though! Awesome!! Glad you guys are finally puttin more pictures on!! :D

NOPE! ~ Not Cr. dorsocellata (no gold ring on tail-spot), nor a jaguarensis
(I wish!) ~ should hear back in the next week or so from a PikeMaster as to proper ID . . . These fish were purchased from Shark Aquarium. My pair are 7" ++, & are possibly the 'meanest'*** juvie Pikes we've ever had! The male has caught up to the female (she was always larger) in size, but is drab in comparison.
The punctata (8" M.) does have a lotta dots/spots, but is not as dark as most pics I've seen. He occasionally does have a bluish cast/tint to his body
~ am hopin he gets more BLUE & darker spots.... Will try and get some more pix up of these guys + my friends' true Cr. lacustris (aka 'red-spot' )

<< now ~ if I could only get GI Joe to post some pix >>

they look like the big missoneria with the slight range stripe on the belly that Vin Kutty has on one of his fish collecting trip photo sets

We had a really nice female missioneria just startin to color-up with reddish-orange sides that died last Summer '06. Replaced with another female last winter that's still growin'. These are not the same fish.....

That what I was saying, it might be a cf. dorsecelleta, as it shows most of the characteristics. Perhaps its a look alike? Geographical variant? Could be they haven't reached their FULL adult coloration...;).

Definately, love seeing those lacustris pictures whenever we getta chance. :D

I've always loved punctata, just love their robust body and thick lips. Hpoefully it DOES color up more for you!! :D Definately a show fish...especially in about six months!! ;)

1st looks almost like celidochilus, except for the tail spot and orange marks.

Its possible, but i seriously hope its not!!! LoL That would suck getting celidochilus on accident, and not gettin more of them. Oy!!! Pretty sure the juv. look a good bit different from that...tail doesn't seem right, the shape i mean.

also the trademar black lips don't seem to be there

You've got to remember though that as pikes mature they get more and more prominant markings, so its possible that they just aren't fully fledged color wise. Would be awesome if they did turn out to be celidochilus, but for some reason I doubt they are...:(
