Mystery or Apple Snail questions

my golden apples are hatching in 5 days or less now, so every 5 days i get more snails, its getting ridiculous! I don't have the heart to throw them away so the floor of my aquarium is carpeted with snails.

Also they aren't doing anything to control my hair algae though, and there is a lot of hair algae. But they also leave my plants alone.

Are mystery snails typically smaller? And yes I know they eat plants so I went down the plastic plant root

Odd...My own apple snails love hair algae. I tried to place one ball of algae in a breeder trap for the nerites (in case they might like it) but my apples immediately went inside thus tilting the trap over much to my dismay. They chowed the hair algae completely in 30 minutes.

Pomacea diffusa don't eat plants in my experience. Canas however do. And diffusas stay 2" at most.

And diffusa are the spiked top apple snails right?
I've never heard of that name. I always call them either mystery snail or apple snail.

You'll be surprised male apple snails do not care which gender they copulate.
