Small town near Toronto
Picked a wee guy up from petsmart today, want info
He is racing along the tank already
Ghost or cherry shrimp tankmates?
Root plants that are safe with him?
Anubias?

And where is the mystery of these snails?

What do I feed him?
He munches on the wafer I gave him, but the wafer is as big as he is, so I don't know how often to feed...

Mystery snail is just a name. You can callit apple snail, spiked-topped apple snail or anything you want.

Cherry shrimps are my preferred shrimp tankmates for snails. All plants are fine but make sure they are firmly established as the snail loves to burrow partially into the substrate to rest.

Wafers are plain junkfoods. Focus on calcium enriched foods.

such as??

Fresh veggies (greens, green beans, carrots, etc), or kens catfish pellets have 16% calcium. He is also formulating a new veggie stick to cater towards fw snails needs. Else, try and feed some veg each week. They will eat bottom feeder pellets, left over flake, etc, but their shell health will suffer without supplemental calcium

Could I have 3 ghost shrimp in there as tankmates?
PetSmart won't ship cherries in for me...
He isn't very active and has a small white ring, what's wrong???

He is getting more and more sluggish, no pun intended...
He has small white markings on his shell...

SOS
He is now whitish in color of flesh.

What are the water parameters? Pics? Check for copper traces both your tank water and tapwater.

I added water conditioner that rids the water of copper and he is slightly better now.
No more white flesh, still a ring on the carapace though.
A bit more activity as well.
I can't do any more checks as I am terribly Ill and mom won't let me see him.

Could he just be stressed? After a stressful move, he was ploped in the tank with some hornwort and I spent the next hour putting my anubias in there.
