Hello everyone. I am currently treating my polypterus(bichirs) for ich. There is one wild caught moke(7 inch), 1 CB albino senegal(3 inch), and 1 CB Delhezi(2.5 inches)They got ich a few days ago. Have been doing 50% WC or finlevel WC every other day because the ammonia gets to 0.25ppm every 24 hours. Before I noticed this, the ammonia did get to 0.75 ppm after 5 days. The quarentine tank is not cycled.

Parameters are 7.6 ph, 0-0.25 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates. Temp is 83, but will be increasing it to 86-89 and dosing salt to treat the ich.

Have dosed the polys with prazipro(1 dose) around last wednesday. Dosed with paraguard yesterday. Today is the first day that I have seen the mystery worms. They are approximately 0.25 inches( very small) and kind of look like blood worms(red-> brown in color). They have been squirming and floating around in the water. They also go into the sand crawl around. Haven't seen them on a fish, but am worried. Not sure if they were in the fish previously(and expelled with the paraguard) or if maybe they caught a ride on my marimo moss ball that I bought from petco 7-10days ago . The moss balls were in a seperate container without fish.....so I figured they were tank safe and put them in each of my tanks.

Here is a video of the worms.

Need help:
- IDing the worms:
- treating the worms:
- treating the worms and ich at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you,
- Chelsea

I was just thrown off by them free swimming vs in the fish but maybe they do that (and like you said you dosed with a few things.) I'll shut up now and let people who actually know what they're talking about pitch in. ;)

I'm leaning toward mosquito larvae on this.
