A friend and I are working on a project for our biology lab. We are wanting to have several species of fish attempt a simple maze with the prize of food, very similar to what was done on mythbusters.
We have a few ideas in mind of types of fish, goldfish are easy to get as well are danios. All fish will be cared for after the experiment.
Has anyone heard of this before or anything similar. And does anyone have any ideas?

Oscars are smart fish as well.

Go for a cichlid. They are known for being some of the smartest fish. Maybe they'll figure things out more quickly? Or at least provide some sort of different result that shows a little higher intelligence? Maybe cons? They're cheap and available

We have to have multiple test subjects and do it as a comparative analysis so our thinking is to compare predators to herbivores.
We have stickleback (spelling) available to us through the biology department, but arent sure if we want to use them.
Our main restriction is size.

thats far from true lol

nope, this is. thanks for derailing this thread.

i would personally try a midas, or something else of uber aggression. just put like, a fish on the other side.

i really like the idea there of compairing predators and herbivores in the maze exspecially with food, because you think the predator would win, due to its hunting nature.

I would use a betta my old one used to go crazy when it was feeding time once jumped out of the tank when I opened the cover lol.
