I have kept a Jaguar cichlid for many years and have found him to be as smart or smarter than an oscar. also in my opinion a jaguar is more beautiful than an oscar. when they get larger watch them hunt, they wont just chase their food, they get it up in a corner and come up underneath it where it is hard for the prey to spot the jaguar. an amazing fish to keep.

have you seen a pecock bass hunt... game over.. :naughty:

Betta, goldfish, guppies, cichlids like jags, red devils, cons, or oscars are all smart. you could even try catfish since they have amazing scavenger abilities.

i'd go with cons cus theyre smart and relatively small for agressive cichlids

very cool expt.
good luck.
You could do a 2d (lefts and rights) kind of expt then in 3d (left, right, up,down). apparently, this can give different results.

yeah, how big are the channels?

so the fish have to know there is food at the end, therefore have to smell it?
prob best to use something tasty like bw.
u may have to change water between goes tho for lots of reasons.

i think you should try cory's / loaches.
eg do 3 corys find food faster than 1 does?

time the predators vs feeder fish and see who makes it to the end first or just who makes it. lol. but the predators would go threw faster if they had a target i would think.

Id say do a small zig zag eel. from what ive observed of mine they have good senses
