lolz, u shud get a turtle thats much less common, like a cooter, or a snapper
:iagree: you can find RES anywhere in the world even in the Philippines you should get something like what mampam said and besides. you can only find those 2 in a few countries which does not make them common at all. In fact they cost more than an FRT. here in the Philippines

So that would mean we should stop keeping cats and dogs because they are so comon:grinno: Get what you want no matter what other people say;) The only factor here is if you have the means to keep such cool turtles. Res are in my opinion owesame turts, one of my favorite actualy, keep 3.7 myself alongside other sliders. Really personable, inquisitive and hardy ones. Besides "normal" res there are a few natural rarer morphotypes and many selectively bred morphotypes including albino, pastel, melanistic, etc wich keep the species interesting to have and bred. They are omnivorus, adapted to temperate climate so can be kept outdoors year round and live many years:D

Just to throw it out there...check craigslist and petfinder or even look into turtle rescues in your area. RES are usually over exploited and there are always a lot up for adoption, even babies.

Thanks everybody! I will keep you updated...

be careful, RES are illegal in some states

RES are cool, however, if your looking for something that doesn't get too big then get a Reeve's turtle. They are very hardy turtles and grow to about 5" to 8". Mine is super active and always moving around all day and night. Fun to watch.

Legal here, thanks!

Reeves are owesame;) miss having them but the 5 to 8 inch is actualy a urban myth, they can get as big as sliders, 12 inch females are not unherd of but aside that they make great turt pets

Another turtle that wont get to big, if your worried about space are common musk turtles or razorback musk turtle.
