Naming fish?

I used to name my fish but then i got too much and it was hard to remember the names but now i usually call them by there scientific name :cool: whitch is weird cause thats harder that an actual nickname :screwy::screwy:
 
With my tanks now, the only named fish is my fahaka, the rest are all small community fish so no point naming them...

I only name either my really old fish or my really expensive fish.
 
I named my wolf fish and jd pain and panic. I was watching Hercules with my son and got the idea from there.

that betta wikihow theory is a fair idea for kids/people with a betta in a bowl, but owners have to be instructed on the specifics of how to "take better care" of it.
A few of my fish get names, due to individual characteristics or behaviors. it adds fun when talking about them here at home.
most aren't named ;-)
 
I do things slightly backward. I don't name fish to get attached to them, I name fish that I've found that I've grown attached to. Most of those fish develop names organically through some trait of theirs that stands out.
 
Yeah I only name fish that I grow attached to too my red tail catfish is named bubba and my silver arowanas name is monkey because he always used to jump and before my oscar passed his name was chomper you can only guess why haha but other than that out of the many fish I have or have had those are the main ones that I've named and I can say that naming them does make you even more attached when I first get a fish I don't automatically come up with names they just develop their names along the way when I become more attached
