So wonder how it would look on a Silver, Black, or Jardini?

IMO... NAN lights make every fish look better with coloration, fishes color becomes more vibrant and vivid. I've used it on my flowerhorn, red parrots and the red on them shows alot more...even koi too. When used on my Frontosa... brings out more blueish/ purple on them.

So if NAN lighting is not a "tanning" light. Is it simply a light inside your tank, giving side lights to top water fish?

Aro's typically like dimly lit tanks, so do these side lights bother the Aro's?

Do you leave them on while your standard lights are on or just a specially timed light for low time use daily?

Again, I was not able to find out much about these types of lights on the web. However, lights that show off the fish from the side seem like a good idea. Does anyone have pics with and without NAN lights in a tank?
You can use it as aquarium lighting... It give light to all fish, and give better lighting, since you don't lose the lighting through glass top

If your fish has any red color in it, NAN light will enhance the red, makes your fish more beautiful with those red highlight :D

Ive been spending loads of hours at google trying to find out what this NAN is and who makes them and where do u buy it. I dont want a all red aro but ive seen a few nice mixes with lights that brings out perfect colours sure it depends on the fish. But where can i get i?? And as u said does it infecet the alges? I dont want tones of alges in the tank.

we cant buy NAN lights hear in the UK leagly as they dont have a E mark so they dont pass UK standards

their are lots of diffrent units on the market and NAN is the trade name

with all asian aros they look better when veiwed from below as the nan light sends light up from below it makes the aros light up from below as the light tube is in the water

tanning is like sun burning the aro this is only good for red aros and with gold aros it will make the aro look washed out

i feel tanning is a bit cruel as people tan for 24hrs per day not giving the aro any time to rest so this must be very stressfull for the aro not knowing if its night or day

the nan light also has a lot of red spectum in at and makes red fish look alot reder than they realy are

its cheating if you ask me but other just think it brings out the red thats already their

banned in just UK or rest of EU aswell?? The NAN light is that always placed underwater?? So if trade name is NAN what should i look for when i want to find them and where they are sold??.

well as they dont have a E mark is your house burns down then your insurance wont cover you

you can place the nan light outside the tank in front of the tank

as i said i think it cheating and makes the aro look better than it really is its only yourself that you are fooling into thinking the red aro is better than it really is at the flick of a switch

if you want a nan light get pana to ship you one when they ship the aros

Does anyone have pics of a tank or a fish with and without NAN type lights. I wonder how it would make a Dat or other (non-Red) fish look. More light is typically always better.

And as far as fireproof, just put it on a GFI outlet. It will be hard to catch fire under water, but could kick a breaker and fry some fish.

Doing some reading and searching on Arofanatics and found that a common issue with submersible flourescent lighting (NAN is a brand name using TFC brand bulbs) is voltage leakage into the tank. And they are not rated or approved in UK so probably not in the US either. Another thing I read was it is simply a T8 bulb in a sleeve that is suppose to keep it water tight. Doesn't always work.

Seems some have claimed when submersing that it could burn your fish if they touch it, so it also warms water.

That is the info I was able to find. Seems like this lighting may not be worth the risk, but thought I'd share what I was able to find.
