Thanks but I'm afraid you should say 'mean grammodes' because she's far from nice. My Trimac passed on last night in the hospital tank. I put her in there with salt and melafix and kept the lights off for a few days hoping she would come back around. Instead, all the scales around the wound started turning white until her whole back half of her body on both sides turned completely white with dead scales. I guess she couldn't take it anymore. :(:(:(

don't mean to hijack this thread or get off topic...but the istlanum was more outgoing, greedier, grew 2x larger, bigger mouth, held its own....and i can't find any...

I had a young grammodes in a 75 a couple of years ago. I added some Hemichromis fremongis that weren't any larger. The grammodes had the upper hand because he was established. About a week later the frempongis turned the tables on him and got the upper hand. The pounded on him pretty badly. I removed the grammodes and stuck him him an old little hospital tank I use when I need to. The grammodes was starting to rebound nicely, his fins were growing back. Then someone in the house plugged him the heater that I hadn't adjusted yet, the temp went to well over 100, fried the poor little guy. I ordered another one, I experimented with 2 day UPS ground shipment, he was still alive but barely, and died about an hour after release. Here is the one that got thrashed by the frempongis before the heater got him.

And these are some of the fremongis the grammodes was with, pic was taken around the same time period.

LOL

Mbuna are you going to get the Grammodes? From the experiences posted, it sounds like you have a 50/50 chance of getting a fish murdering sob or a compatible CA/SA community fish. Or you could try for a pair to breed. GL what ever you decide and remember they grow very slow....slower than Festae.
