I have Dwarf Hair Grass...definitely easier. I've had them since December. I heard that they can be easy as long as you have enough lighting. They were doing fine, but I just added a CO2 System a little over a week ago. They seem taller already, lol!

I hear that HC is one of those plants that take a lot of patience. I think I read somewhere that a carpet can take a minimum of 5 months to complete.

Same here, I think that's why I am beginning to have second thoughts.

Well, tonight I finally decided to pull out all the HC, I've gone in a totally different direction than an iwagumi scape. Pics will follow as soon as the new filter comes in.

It's been quite frustrating having two filters fail on me at the same time. My ehiem 2232's handle broke, now it no longer closes. My cascade 500 has decided to start leaking from the bottom of the filter, Ive never seen this happen before; but both filters were well over four years old so I have gotten a ton of use out of both of them. Now I can't use my hydor inline heater and my co2 reactor.

I've decided to go with a diffuser instead of a reactor; the plants I will be using are: Anubias petite, Chain Sword - Narrow Leaf, (Echinodorus tenellus) Pellia, (Monosolenium tenerum) blxya japonica.

I promise pics as soon as I get my filter, which maybe another week from this post.

Sorry to hear that Your real name here, although whatever you do with it.. you'll make it look great.. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it next...

I really was looking forward to seeing how your little HC was gonna grow in.. Oh well, next life right? :D

Loved your old concept .. Cant wait to see your new idea!

Sucks to hear about your filters. I'm starting to get impatient with my HC, lol! The bottom of the HC is starting to brown and I see some dead leaves, but I also see some new growth. At first I did the emerged thing, but felt that it wasn't growing. I filled my tank with water and now I play the waiting game.

That's why I gave up on it a long time ago. I was able to grow a nice thick carpet of HC in my first tank, but it would uproot way too easily. You need to be constantly trimming this plant, otherwise the bottom parts will die off, causing the top parts to float away.

Don't fee bad Chonh. Remember my first 55g? I tore this entire mat of HC out and never looked back! I want to give glosso a try, since it looks like it has a really tough root system. You ever though about that?

HAHA that was nothing! It went from a scraggly carpet of HC, to this! Anybody can do it, it just takes the right equipment, and LOTS of patience.

Sorry Chonh, just realized I hijacked your thread with pics of my tank lol
