nano fish

I've kept a male crowntail betta with a few zebra danios and cory cats in a 10G. It was a beautiful set-up with some banana plants and driftwood.

For a 5G, I would try a carpet plant along with a small school of zebra danios or harlequin rasboras.

Galaxy rasboras would be alright in a 10g... but I'd only put them in - mine seemed shy around other active fish.

I'm a big fan of pygmy sunfish. Most common nano fish seem to be active midwater schoolers in the cyprinid/tetra/livebearer mold; pygmies are tiny predators. They're like inch-long oscars.

i was looking for Chaetodons, or Blackbanded Sunfish, but no luck :(

There's a great article on this in the new issue of TFH

I was talking about Elassoma. Enneacanthus, including E. chaetodon, are a little large for a 10 gallon; I'd put them in at least a 20, better a 30 +.

Jonah's Aquarium, Zimmerman's and Sach's all have Enneacanthus gloriosus right now. If you wait until spring they'll probably have all three Enneacanthus available.

WooHoo what he said, also a pair of beautiful bluspotted sunfish would work, with some nice plants and small driftwood
