The java moss and fern are just attached to a small piece of wood. The crypt I planted using wooden shish kabob skewers. It was actually fairly difficult and frustrating. I'm guessing that's what doing a ship in a bottle is like.
I thought about that to keep down evaporation. Hornwart is supposed to be a good oxygenator and 4 snails can't use up that much oxygen (and with the small neck of the bottle, there probably isn't that much atmospheric gas exchange anyway
That bottle's looking good! You can also lay a bottle on its side and plant it with terrestrial plants. It's great because it keeps the humidity really high, so you can keep tiny tropical orchids, bromeliads, spikemosses, etc.
