Nano+ Water Sterilizer - My new toy!

One thing about diatoms is that San Diego water is filtered with silica sand prior to the addition of chemicals. It's a fruitless battle with tanks that receive indirect sunlight in San Diego.
I have been noticing this, yes.
Cyano is usually a nutrient/chemistry issue. Usually uneaten food in a tank.
That’s what people said ?‍♂️. All my chemicals seem to be fine. So I guess it is uneaten food. Perhaps my Bichir wasn’t eating all of his. I did notice a different kind of cyano when he hadn’t eaten 3 pellets.

If the pellet is too large to swallow whole, pieces of it will leave the bichir's mouth, which will then feed cause cyano bacteria to appear. If you feed frozen, then most definitely pieces of that will cause cyano to appear. That white fungus is generally food or pieces of plant material.

If you leave the back glass panel bare.
Any lind of algae will look obnoxious, like the one I had below that received ambient sun light.

I usually spray paint a piece of styrofoam black, and tape it to the back of the tank, it slows a lot of algae growth due to ambient light, and the algae that does grow, is less obvious and obnoxious.

The styrofoam panel on the tank above is 6 ft long by 2 ft tall.
A side benefit, is it helps insulate the tank from temp variation.

I've seen these things advertised for a couple years now, I'd wondered if they actually worked. Wonder if there are any potential issues for plants/ fish / inverts? From my understanding it's kinda like a small ozone generator.
