So my current 6x2x2 setup is home to my male+female Dovii and most recently a Golden Pleco :)

The Pleco has been in the tank now for just under 2days, so far so good. The Dovii initially had a tantrum over the Pleco (territorial reasons),
but he remained completely oblivious to it all..

Meanwhile, I was given a pretty beat Jag and hes in now in the 3ft grow out tank. I did try putting him in the 6ft, but he got picked on instantly.
Eventually when the Jag able to hold his own, he'll be put back in

The real question I have to ask is - can I put an Arowana in with this combination ?

I am aware that when my Dovii mature and are able to breed, the Pleco and Arowana will need to be removed. Here is an example of why.

To me, it would seem logical this could work as the Arowana's are a surface/top of tank dwellers, while my Dovii and Jag would patrol their rocks/caves.

Are there any fellow MFK who have experienced with this sort of configuration?

Fish sizes:

Dovii m 21cm, f 16cm
Pleco 32cm
Jag 18cm

Arowana 20cm (size of one im looking to purchase)

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers ppl,

gw.

wow you really took your options and took no chances. very nice if only every body does this before buying. i would say try it and see what comes out. if it doesnt work just try another combination.

Short term: Maybe

Long term: No

Aro's will eventually get to large even for your 6x2x2 and before then the two Dovii might decide they don't like him. They are aggressive even when not breeding, and i'm sure that even though they forgot about the pleco they wouldn't forget to try and eliminate the arowana since it'll be swimming close by them all the time instead of sticking to something.

You can try it and it might work for a while but just have another plan in case it doesn't or in case your dovii decide to get it on!

Will.

yea, sounds like a bad idea putting anything with your pair of dovii in a 180, some will say that's even too small for a pair it's self. bottom line is if and when they start breeding nothing will live with them

you could tryin it, the jag is going to have to be bigger than the dovii when there introduced same with the aro

My 5 inch dovii almost killed my 13 inch jag with just the two of them in a 210.

Same fish almost killed my male jag...4" for the dovii, my jag was 10" My jag is uber aggro too...This particular dovii was/is just too must for most any other cichlid....
