females sometimes masquerade as males when there is not another hait in the tank. It's/your fishes profile is not particularly male, but much of its coloration is. Dominance is a factor in appearance.
Here was my female pretending to be male.
But a dominant male profile and dark mask is quite dramatic.

as soon as the male was returned to the tank she reverted to true female color
