In the water
what are some fish that i could do in a 55 that wont out grow it. i would try to like to stay away from pan fish but will do some if they are really cool. they must eat live fish and be active and colorful

Sculpin!!!!
first is a prickly around 4 1/2 inches can reach up to 8
second is a mottled sculpin about 1 1/2 inch reaches same length

Bullheads would be cool. Haven't kept one personally, but have watched videos on Youtube of pet bullheads. They look like alot of fun.

they look very cool if i do this kind of tank im going to get one. i bass fish all the time and every time i catch a very tiny bass in my cast net i keep them for a while before they get to big. they are my favorite fish to keep. i know that their are lots of species is there any that stay very small

Dollar Sunfish stay small are cool looking and can live their whole lives in a 55g. Fat Sleepers are native to Florida and definately eat fish. "war mouths are pan fish but how big do they get" Warmouths get to 12 inches and even though Ive never had one, everyone who has had them says that they make good aquarium pets.

I would stop doing that if I were you. Releasing a fish once its been kept in a home aquarium is illegal. You could be introducing non native diseases and parasites the fish picked up while in your tank.

To answer your original question though, the first suggestion is probably the best. Sculpin are pretty cool and there arent many other non sunfish predators out there that can live in a 55g

What about a green sunfish?

He said no panfish. That means most sunfish and decent aquarium fare. He want off-the-wall stuff, I think.

Three-spined stickleback? Great little buggers and breed like rabbits.
