Be more specific. You need a big tank and the ability to maintain correct conditions and diet for them. Ask a general question get a general answer. They should be hardy and attractive if you give them the proper amount of space.

i have a black crappie right now its about 6 in long i keep him in a 150 gallon..i used to have a 10in. white with it but it died...they love to eat minnows and stay in cover theyre fun to watch

Crappie are mainly piscivorous, so you will probably be stuck feeding them minnows, but they make good aquarium fish if you have a large enough tank. They dont get real big, 15" would be something to brag about!

Ive got three black crappie in my tank now. From my experience a huge tank insnt necessary. My friend had 5 black crappie in a 40 gallon and they did very very well until he had to move. Crappie are rather stationary until they need to feed and watching them eat is cool too.

..true i threw in a baby earthworm and my crappie didnt even touch it...then i threw in a few minnows and he gobbled all of them up in one bite

Theres one problem that I can think of w/ keeping crappie, and thats feeding them. Your going to have to feed them minnows their entire life, and that isnt cheap!
