native dream tank possible?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Currently in tank:
One male pumpkinseed
One female pumkinseed
One black crappie
One perch
4 bluegill (I won't be keeping them all)
One grass pickerel
Mystery fish (warmouth or rock bass)
A bee catfish. Maybe not a Wisconsin native but I saw the little fat ass at a lfs and fell in love. He most likely won't stay with the rest. Mostly because eventually he would get eaten.

If I can figure out if I have a male or female pickerel I would get another of the opposite sex but I'm not sure how to tell.

Getting nervous now. They get pretty loud at night. They are just babies. When they are adults they can do some real damage. What kind of lid do people use for fish as large as these get? I already had a small catfish get on top of my lid somehow and die. How do I contain these monsters? I have a glass lid now with a nice plant light on it but that won't do once they are adults...

Only thing I have had jumping is the pickerel. But if you have a glass lid it should be fine. I have something to cover up the back gap where filters go because I've had one jump of out the smallest space I couldn't believe it.

Bought a used 55 and stand. Cracked. Won't put water in it. Friend is babysitting half my fish for bio load issues in a 30, in this one is a grass pickerel, female pumpkinseed, three bluegill, and rock bass I think. The crappie and perch and male pumpkinseed will be reunited once I can get a 55. Won't be keeping all the bluegill. Pickerel ate too many feeder guppies ..
