I've had this fish for a while, but never bothered showing it off.

What is it?

Don't tell me "sunfish", because I know that piece already.

Only about 1" and got him for an amazing $8 bucks!

Looks like a Lepomis cyanellus, or as accr said a green sunfish

It's not fatel unless the fish is really infested and weak, more of an eye sore than anything. Most native fish that I catch around here have it.

I just took a look and I don't see as much black spots. It's only evident when the fish is excited, and I think it's just the coloration of the fish. The spots are not protruding either... well, I think it'll go away eventually.

I have never seen a normal green with black spots like that but you might be right. If it is the disease they should go away with time.

umm, I'm not so worried. it's housed alone with a small bushynose pleco anyway.

anyone know how to tell the sex of these fish when bigger?
