Native predators

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yellow bass look alot like white bass but with a yellow breast and the biggest one I have ever caught was like half a pound, but the state record is 2 pounds I think.

I don't know - my American Eel is quite the predator. He's a bit stupid sometimes, but when he's hungry everyone else gets out of his way.

Perch and sunfish look good in an aquarium. I like sunfish over bass because they don't get as big and are not as picky eaters. Plus sunfish are more active and colorful.

What do you guys think the best native predator for an aquarium is, I pretty far of from setting up a tank and wanted some idea of what I have as far as options of native predators.

It depends on the size, some small ones are Pirate Perch, Mudminnows, Melanistic Eastern Mosquitofishs, three spine sticklebacks, many madtoms, most topminnows, Banded, Bantam and Orange spotted sunfish Medium ones not listed would be fallfish, creek chubs, Rock Basses and Sleepers ,some of the large predators not listed yes are the Pikeminnows, Burbot, catfishes. What size aquarium are you wanting to hold your pets in?

Leeches or lamprey

Haha they can be a pain to feed

I've always wondered how the hell you feed a lamprey, just drop some large fish in there to get sucked on to death?!

I eventually would love a pike and bowfin tank, as was said depending on tank size your options are all over the place as far as native goes
