Well tonight I came home from work to find my plocostomus without a tail, floating at the top of the tank. He was still alive so I put him in my 20 gallon tank where no predators are. 3 hours later he is dead. This is the first time my piranhas have given him trouble too. 2 days ago I noticed a nip on his tail, fed the piranhas a ton, and thought nothing more. Now this?! Maybe they did it out of boredom, maybe out of hate. I am guessing this has happened to a few others out there. If so please share what happened so that maybe I can understand what happened to me a little better.

BTW, anyone looking for 2 free piranhas.............

I am stunned you are suprised. It happens if not sooner it happens later. I truely wonder how many plecos have met their demise in peoples piranha tanks.

It continues to amaze me how people try to escape nature's intention of piranhas being ... piranhas... I feel bad for the pleco.
In nature, it's different - plecos aren't their natural prey (most likely) but in an aquarium is altogether a different story.

A friend of mine and I have lost several plecos of different sizes to our Piranhas, we have finally given up. Piranha's will eventually eat other Non-Piranha species, that's just the way it is.

How many did it take?

Oh boy, here we go....

I wonder what people actually *expect* or what they *think* will happen?

Most other fish species don't last with piranha, even plecos. I wouldn't dare add anything with my Rhom. Although he got on well with some tetras, untill they had a 'Disagreement' hee hee.

i have never even tried tankmates w/ my rhom. i would consider it a waste of fish and money.
