While I don't disagree that a balanced diet is beneficial, I would argue that a good enough pellet IS a balanced diet.

Correct. Any high quality pellet is indeed a balanced diet, and commercial aquaculture has proven this over the past 100 years. Some of today's formulas just keep getting better, using the latest science to tweak raw ingredients where needed.

There is nothing wrong with feeding a balanced, including a vitamin/mineral fortified diet, of live/frozen, but there is also nothing wrong with feeding a diet that consists of 100% pellets. In fact, IME, a decent pellet will typically be more balanced, than a homemade food, as the various nutrients that go into a pellet have all been formulated in a lab first, so the final amino acid profile, fatty acid profile, as well as vitamin and trace mineral content is specific, and constant, from batch to batch. The manufacturer will know exactly what the nutrient level is of each formula at post production levels.
A hobbyist will typically have no idea where the basic nutrient levels sit at post production, including basic elements of their food, such as vitamins A, E, C etc.
