Natural or Blue Background????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know it wasn't an option but I really like black if not then go with blue

:iagree: black is the way to go

black sucks for flowerhorns, it darkens them out and they look all drab. i think blue or really bright saltwater backgrounds brighten your fish up the most

yeah I was always told black ruines a flowerhorns color...there good for like a red texas cichlid...

yeah faded fish respond well to black backgrounds usually

i have a flowerhorn that looks great on black. BUT as everyone else has stated more commonly FH look their best under the blue instead. half my fish room has black painted on them. i guess i'm stuck with it... o well!!

I just added my FH to a 75g last night!! His back round is now black. Before I had him in a blue back round tank.

In the blue back his color was very natural tanish redish.. Personally, kind of ugly. His gravel was natural color too. I know this will make a difference with these guy as well.

In the Black back? So far his color is deep and dark!!! Wayyy better in MY opinion. I am going to add some funky colored gravel soon.

i have my male fh who is in his own tank and has black gravel and a white wall. at first he darkened straight away, but his colour has come back a bit but he would be so much better with tacky bright gravel and background.
then i have another in a community tank with black gravel and blue background and she is practically black.
so i go with neither and get a bright background. he would look stunning!
