no where
do you let natural sunlight come into the tank during the day? i do and wow doesnt my fish color show more! but is that bad that natural sunlight hits my tank cause algea? besides algea its great!

Mines in my basement so I cant, but If I'd rather have that as a light source during the summer as opposed to normal lights.

One downside is the water will evaporate like crazy.

My friend who has his tank by the window loses 50% of its water in a week.

I keep my window next to my discus tank open during the day. It's on my desk, so my cat likes to use it as his bowl. I clean that tank religiously since they are all juvies, but haven't had any algae issues. They really do show their colors with the sunlight. I agree :)

50% a week does he have the window open and is there a top on the tank?

To other person sunlight will usually give you algae.

tank + natural sunlight = algae bloom :D
yeah i can speak from experience. i recently moved a tank from out of direct sun (it was in a room with 2 windows right next to it but we always had the blinds shut) and already in a week you can visibly see the algae slowing down its growth and clearing up

ive got an outdoor tank that gets full sun from sun up to sun down... the fish and plants look great and the UV filter keeps the floating algae away..

Up here in North CA, summer heat would kill the fishes.
