ok so i finally got the chance to get out and fish today. i went to this nature trail by my house that has a stream and a small lake. i saw a few small (4-7") fish. idk wat they were, they swam away too fast. i know there are fish in there and probably some trout or something like that. im out of small sized lures and i want to know wat you guys use that can be casted from a plug rod with relative ease. thanks

the tiniest hooks you can find and worms, small worms or peices works the best. Also try to sneak up on the stream

so fish the worms under a bobber? or just freeline. and where do i get worms in the winter?

walmart get an inflater so you dont need a bobber. Maybe flies with a water bobber if there is a current to send your bait to the fish.

If there are trout try a small roostertail. Bobber with a small hook with maggots will also work well.

#4 or even #2 light wire hooks. Owner mosquito to be exact. with a piece or worm and 2-4lb test. free lining or use a swivel about 12" up as weight. nothing more though.

use larger hooks so they dont swallow them.

i wouldn't go as large as a #4, 6~8 is what i've found works very well for small trout and then mealworms or any other sort of small insect on a free line. or in larger pools a small spinner will almost always get a strike or two, but you have to be careful to cast gently so you don't spook the fish because then they won't strike anything.

usually on a stream, theres a water fall (big or small) leading to the pool. i cast above it and let it fall into the pool. the larger fish usually hold there anyways.

and yes, ive causght 3" trout on #4 hooks.

i would say for beter chances stay with a #3 hook but u can also use a #4 hook shouldnt make to much of a difference but if u start getting alot of bites and nothing is getting on switch to a smaller hook
