(Reminds self that if ever I decide on Rays, I should do my best to get a system that would need little hand contact on the bottom of the tank and that I ALWAYS wear thick gloves while cleaning a tank with a ray. Also, NEVER HANDFEED THEM.)

I heard that there fatal cases of stingray stings. Just wanted to add a little card to this stacked deck.

Telling someone never to feed their rays by hand is the safe bet, and it will take care of all of the morons out there who would carelessly give the hobby a bad name by dying on us. That said, it is also the safe answer NEVER to jump out of a moving airplane (skydiving), and never crawl down the edge of a sheer cliff face (rock climbing). It would seem sound advice to also say never hurl around the streets in a hunk of speeding medal (driving), but not everything is as easy to dismiss off-hand as it first appears. Many people would say that keeping poisonous (and potentially lethal) animals in one's house is utter madness. In that case, welcome to the sanitarium.

Be careful with your rays, but you should always make your own choices and weigh your risks by your own standards. We often hand-feed our rays, we know the dangers involved, and we love it.
