Hello people i would like to buy 250 Pacu fish to stock my aquaponic machine can you help me find a source?

I would really appreciate a source of fish so any information is surely welcomed.

Mind if I ask why ur using pacu? unless u somewhere tropical, pacu aren't going to survive the winter...unless you plan to use a heater in which case the heating bill for a tank big enough to house 250 pacu is gonna cost you an arm and maybe 2 legs.

Are you sure you want aquaponics with pacu? You're gonna need a very large heated POND and I can't even imagine the filtration what kind of filtration 250 growout pacu will require much less 250 adults.

If you really have a large enough system and are ready for the growth rate, appetite, bioload, etc then any local petshop should be able to get you the pacu you want. They'll think you're crazy though...most people can't house 1 pacu let alone 250.

I've owned 1 and I couldn't keep up with his appetite. He grew from 2 inches to 18 inches in 6 months before I had to give him away. Now 250...I wish you the best of luck. There are a handful of members here who have experience with a large stock like the one you're trying...I suggest talking with some of them before starting your journey. It will save you time, money, and headaches.

Well congrats first off for surviving the storms. 32 tanks at 400 gallons each...I think that would do it. I'm unfamiliar with the local laws but someone on here might be more knowledgeable.

Local petshops, one of the mfk vendors, or maybe aquabid? One of the vendors there might wanna do a big shipment for you.

Personally I think pacus need 700 gallons bare minimum, really they need a 9' x 4' x 3' to stay happy, a 400 will not last too long. A year max. If you live in barbados you could do a outdoor pond for the pacu. I would do a different fish like tilapia, carp or catfish for aquaponics. In those tanks tilapia would be best.

If you are trying to breed you might be better off with one two large ponds and keep a small group in each. And your 400 gallons would be used to grow out the pacu. I don't think they'll breed in a 400...I think that's too small for breeding. 400 gallon would be perfect to grow them out until they get a good enough size to eat.
