My local petsmart has a 150 tank (4lx2wx2d) for $360...

You could also build a big plywood tank for much less than that...

4x2x2 is a 120
4x2x30" a 150

I know I can build bigger and cheaper, but since I am moving in less than 2 years, an 800 gallon tank isnt movable, and therefor; illogical. I think a 125 would be a nice growout. I think I have a purchase on a 125 on craigslist right now. I'll let you guys know for sure on friday.... I went to superpetz, petsmart, ricks, everywhere within an hours driving and came up dissapointed. I guess I'll settle for a temporary set up for NOW but I have BIG plans for the future...

fish grow a lot in 2 years good luck;)

you should do a kiddie pool until your "big plans" are fulfilled.
only downside is you dont get another tank out of it

Much better but glass cages makes 125 wide that is 72x24x18 tall which would give you more width which would be usuable. And it's like 300.00 I think. Just an idea because those fish will max out that tank in 2 years.

The pool idea is cool too but not sure you can do that at college.

A glass tank is my only option untill I move out. No pools. No plywood. No dream tanks at the moment. Sorry.

And like I said, $400 is my limit....

I greatly appreciate all of the replies so far. I will look into the glass cages, however shipping might be a problem.

That 125wide is 315.00 + they usually charge around 80.00 to to bring it and meet people at local shows. So you'd be just below budget. They actually have a show in baltimore june 23rd so if you have the money right now you could call and see if they can add it on but they usually need 3 weeks lead time for tanks to be at shows.

Oh and in october there's a show in DC they'll be at. Just an idea. I guess why I think this is better is because that 6" of width might buy you a little more time with those tank busters.
