Need a bit of info before I jump into Discus keeping

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well in that case its okay, because the dealer already took care of the acclimation process for you. Good point, a good dealer/source is always the best way to go.
-and yes its true, theyre not as hard as everyone says. Just take good care of them as you would any other fish.

see if you can checkout the parent Pigeons. If theyre nice, then theres a good chance the offspring will be decent.
If not, you can go for the colbolts.

Here 3" go for $40+, so its a decent price.

The guy never replied. Way to get my hopes up lol. Anyway, I have a lfs thats about 35 minutes away that sells really nice 3" Marlboro reds for 35 bucks each. Just introduced some Cardinals into my tank and a few of them got ich.. Currently treating with salt and high temps. Ich should clear up in 3 days, nothing I've never done before lol. I'll be posting pics hopefully by the end of this week when the cardinals are clear of ich.

Agreed with the general population, if you have any questions while raising feel free to shoot me a PM. Im no expert but i have had more problems then a lot of people when i started. No im doing pretty well :)

Try fattening up the cardinals now before you get the discus. That way they will look less like food to the discus. But 3" discus aren't really predatory yet. My 5-6" or moremature discus become a little more aggressive toward small cardinals.
