I did a search and the best match I havseen was one of the Luciosomas, probably the Luciosoma setigerum as mentioned in one of Caveman's links. If so it is a semi agressive omnivore that will eat small fish and grows to 10"s. It can't be kept with it's own kind. It is one of at least four species sold as an Apollo shark. They are widesread across south eastern asia and Malaysia. The pics I found were mainly of preserved specimens so don't help much but they do have the horizantal stripe that passes through the eye and are described as having reddish tints to the fins and one source said that some show red highlight over the eyes.

Thanks Guppy Lad

It's what i came up with aswell matey thanks a lot.

I can tell he's a semi agressive speices because he's chasing my Tinfoil barb all over he's not doing any damage just chasing.

I have just been given another fish today it's a catfish he's only about 3" at the moment he's all black and has white whiskers not sure what speices he is i tried to find out on www.planetcatfish.com but the lists go on and on and on so i only got so far through the list.

What happened was my dad bought it and it started to get bigger and it swallowed his red siamese fighting fish so he said Dan can you take it of my hands and i yes yes obviously, But i'm not able to take a photo of him yet as he keeps hiding and dosen't stay out long enough for me to take a snap shot !

When i get one i'll post it ok .

Puntius denosonii has a lower facing mouth. This is probably Crossocheilus janthochir, red finned torpedo barb, from the same region. Southeast asia, max size around 5" I believe after consulting my trusty taxonomist :)
