Everything I read before buying said they are crepuscular, and Ramses seems to back it up. And my tank was a kit, so it came with the UVB bulb. But I took my leopard gecko, who is DEFINITELY nocturnal to the vet once and the vet said the UVB was absolutely necessary. I dunno, she died anyway so maybe he had no idea what he was talking about.

But yeah. I definitely wouldn't get both the lamp and the heat pad, and the heat pad is definitely better than the bulb. I agree with that 100%.
yea agree , i raise leo geckos and they dont need uvb. a varied diet works well . as for the photo period , go fora natural balance of night and day.

Well here is my setup everyone. Hope you like it, and if you see any issues please let me know. Also I know you guys said that I don't need a heat bulb but it's pretty cold down here any the inside of the tank doesn't feel very warm with just the undertank heater, atleast not yet.

Just remember, if there's a way out, a snake WILL find it...

Enjoy your Ball Python - they're great snakes!

Cheers!

Thanks :) he is should be here in the morning. Underneath his log is nice and warm but the rest of the tank is relatively cool. Is this ok? It doesn't warm up with my regular lamp I found out.. lol

Get yourself a thermometer and check the actual temps - don't guess...best advice I can give to snake-owners.

An inexpensive indoor/outdoor thermometer with a probe that you can place wherever you want is very handy and a great $15.00 or so investment.

Cheers!
