The Eheims will fit. I don't think the FX5 will. I never have a problem with the Eheims.

I use Rena XP3's on my 150 and my 55, good filters for the price. I suggest use (2) on your 125

where is the 16" width? If that includes the drain I can make it work, if its just the canister then its too big.

Thanks for everyone's timed advice. While out furniture shopping I remembered that my lfs has a fx5 on their planted tank and the diameter is around 13", 16" is including the drain. Since I can make this work and I can get one for $222 with free shipping from Amazon it seems like the best route. This route allows me to move my good 405 to my 36g bowfront to replace its fluval 205 and then I'll be down to just the fx5 and ac110 on my 125g. I like to use pillow stuffing in the ac110 since its a lot easier to change frequently than if I placed to stuffing in a canister. The only drawback is I'll need to use my fluval e-300 heaters instead of my inline hydors.
